Misa is planning to have a party to celebrate the start of the new Persian year 1391. We are delighted to invite you all to this party.
When: March 20, 2012. 7:30pm — 1am
Where: 2001 University Street, Suite 307, Essence Restaurant H3A 2A6.
The party has two parts; the first part runs from 7:30pm to 10pm. Dinner will be served during this part from 8 — 9:30pm. The second part starts at 10pm and runs with music and dance until 1am.

Hi everyone,
MISA is having a party on Wednesday Dec 21, 2011 to celebrate Yalda night. We would very much like for you to come to our party; it would be a pleasure for us to have you.
When: Wednesday Dec. 21, 2011. 8pm-11:30pm.
Where: Casa Grecque Restaurant, 200 Prince Arthur Est, Montréal, Que. H2X 1B9.
The party will be held at Casa Grecque restaurant, located at the far end corner of Prince Arthur street. The party starts at 8pm. Ajil, Hendooneh and Anaar will be served at 8:30pm. The dinner will be at 9:30pm.
We have arranged a bunch of fun activities to make your Yalda night special. This includes, 1. Live Persian music performance, 2. Sweet making competition, and 3. … let’s leave number 3 as a surprise for now!
Further information on the sweet making competition:
If you’d like to participate, all you need to do is to make at least 10 sweets and bring them to our party. Interested guests will try your sweets and give you a mark! The highest average mark wins the competition. The winner will win TWO TICKETS to MISA’s Nowrooz Party to be held in March 2012. If you’d like to participate, notify us by sending an email to (info@misamcgill.ca).
How to obtain tickets for Yalda night:
Ticket is $20 for McGill students, and $28 for non-McGill.

In response to some of our members who have expressed their interest in having a music group, MISA has arranged a music night event in order for interested members to be able to get in touch with each other and to show their talents in performing music/singing. Details of the music night are as follows:
When: Thursday Nov. 24, 2011, 4-6pm.
Where: Lev Buchman room, ssmu building, McGill University.
Interested individuals, please contact VP external Samira at fatemeh[dot]soltani[at]mail[dot]mcgill[dot]ca by Monday Nov. 21, 2011 to book a time slot for your performance. Each performer is given a 5min time period for his/her performance.
The music night event is open to everyone. So even if you don’t perform, you can attend the session and enjoy the performance by others.
Refreshments will be served at the end of the session.

Dear all,
Please join us in our first event of the academic year: orientation session for new Iranian students and general assembly.
When: Thursday, September 15, 4:00pm - 5:30pm
Where: Break-out room, SSMU building, 3480 Rue McTavish
The session will start with a short introduction session where the new Executive Committee members (re the election of Aug. 31, 2011) will introduce themselves and briefly talk about their plans in the upcoming year.
The session will continue with a presentation on “Student life in Montreal; all you need to know about Montreal and McGill” for our new friends. This presentation is intended to give a new student all necessary information he/she would need to start a new life in Montreal and McGill. Don’t miss it!
A discussion session will follow where MISA members can exchange ideas about the club’s policies and future events.
The event will end with a hospitality session where you can help yourself with soft drinks and cookies!
Don’t forget to tell your new friends about this event!

The election will be held on Wednesday Aug. 31, 1pm-4pm.The voting box will be in the McConnell Engineering Building lobby (beside the elevator near the TEN screen). Please bring your McGill ID card in order to vote.
Regarding MISA’s policy for engaging more students in our community, this year we will expand the executive committee and there will be two VP External and two VP Internal positions. Thus, you can vote for two candidates for those positions.
